Statement: All of my work is personal to a degree but this body of work specifically was very intimate. I wanted this work to serve as a conversation piece around the movement to humanize marginalized communities. Sandra opens up about the challenges of growing up in a migrant family and maneuvering the complexities within that identity, all while dealing with the full on assault against Brown skin in America. I’m über grateful to have a community willing to have difficult conversations. My hope is that we recognize the power in these portraits, and within ourselves, to spark a much needed change in America.
